i knoww its been a while...

I know I have not written a blog since my first one. Truth is, me and my roommate ordered books. Something happened and our books just never came. So obviously our journalism book has yet to show and we were left stranded with nothing to read.so great..

Soo this weekend I went into Boston with a few of my friends and we checked out the Hempfest festival. We talked today in class about the decriminalization of marijuana and this stroke me as a chance to talk about what I experienced this weekend. So I went to this festival to check it out, I always heard so much about it. And I went there and was completly shocked. As I knew, you were not allowed to smoke weed in public. To my surprise I was obviously wrong since out of probably the 10,000 people there, almost everyone I saw was smoking. There was police everywhere but they stood on the outskirts, simply watching. The most I saw was a park ranger walking around, taking pipes and putting out whatever was lit. All I could think of is "this is like woodstock." There was various tents selling shirts, jewlery, and anything to do with smoking pot. All these tents were set up by hippies and such, and they even had there children behind there tables with them. It was shocking. People even brought there children to walk around this festival. I saw kids that couldnt have been any older then twelve, smoking and buying pipes. There was also people performing, like local bands, rappers, and singers. They also had people petitioning the legalization of marijuana and activists speaking on stage about it. There is a women running for govenor of Massachusetts and she was up on the stage, speaking of how she is pro legalization and how we were all the voters who could change it. Again, I was pretty surprised. I knew this festival had to with hemp and smoking weed but I didnt know that all of this was legally allowed. Underage selling. Public smoking.. And the funny thing is..not one person I saw or heard from was given a fine for possesing marijuana. So it makes me wonder about this whole new law that just came about. Is it even really active? Since this whole new law passed, I have heard of one person getting a $100 fine. She told me she never paid it and nothing has become of it since. Which also makes me think, even if this law is established and being acted upon, it is not followed up on. If the police were truly cracking down, they could have given a fine to thousands of people who were gathered at Boston Common this Saturday...

Just something I was thinking aboutt...

the beginning of blogging...

OK.. So my name is Amanda. Im a junior here at Bridgewater State and am beginning this blog as most of you know, for my journalism class. I have never really been interested in blogging..i never really got it..but now I gotta take a swing at it so here I go. I guess my blog is just going to be whatever I want it to be. I know part of it will be used for assignments and such ( i think thats the point of this) and the rest will just be me: my interests, my  stories, my life...and most likely complaining.

So this is basically my life in a nutshell... I am a very loud person. ALL of my friends are very loud people..and we come in packs. Were one of us is, we all are, and its always crazy. There is usually somewhat of a scene caused, bad and good, everywhere we ever go. My family is exactly like this too. Loud and crazy..but i love em. I grew up in the town of Pembroke, the common small town where everyone knows your name. Its a boring town with nothing to do, kids just cause trouble for pure entertainment..and yes I was one of those kids. But now I have gotten out of that town, unlike most of my friends who will be long stuck there. After commuting for a semester of college and doing AWFUL, i moved into the dorms. Lets just say.. i have tried to block that second semester, awful room that always got me sick, and even more awful roommate from my brain. forever. Then last year I lived with three of my friends in a suite in the dorms and loved it. Now.. we have all grown up and got an apartment, with real responsibilities. I live with my two roommates from last year in a small little apartment right next to campus...and its been a little adventure so far..

The truth is I have awful luck..with everything. And thats really not a joke. Thats why me and my roommate, who has been my best friend since we were like five, get along so well. were like the same people. she has awful luck too. so with our bad luck together, and now living together.. you can only imagine. But we have lived together now since the middle of June. We had a great landlord and we thought all was going to be great..we thought wrong. All of a sudden our building was being sold and we were getting new landlords. whatever. Then the next thing I know.. we were living in a construction site. Without any warning or notice our entire place was being gutted except for our tiny little apartment, starting at the crack of dawn! The drilling, chainsawing, falling wood, and the flying bricks were the least of our problems, when we had men banging on our door and walking throughout our apartment all hours of the day. Basically this went on for an entire month, I ended up in a screaming fight with our new landlords, almost had to find a new apartment, but now all is well... we just have the landlords from hell reigning over our life. And just to top it off we have security locked doors so we cant even get to our electricity box, have a lock on our heat box (when we pay for it ourselves!!!), and our landlords can control our doors from there house...so weirrrrrrrd.

But thats the most exciting news I got in my life right now. I can already see my homework assignments piling up for the semester and am looking forward to it soooo much. But I have now completed my work for the night and completed my first blog ever.

gunna go read my book and head off to bed. class in the morninggggg.
